Bulgaria: Bulgaria's Producer Prices Rise 12.5% Year-on-Year

Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria rose by 12.5% in July 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, giving the country the third-highest annual increase in the European Union, according to preliminary Eurostat data.

Only Ireland, where producer prices climbed 14.8%, and Lithuania, with a 12.9% increase, recorded stronger annual growth. The EU average was 5.6%, while producer prices in the euro area increased by 5.8%.

Bulgaria's annual increase remained significantly above the European average, although the pace has eased from the levels recorded earlier this year. Producer prices rose 18.2% year-on-year in June, 19.3% in May and 14.5% in April.

On a monthly basis, the movement was considerably more moderate. Bulgarian industrial producer prices increased by 0.6% in July from June, following a 1.3% monthly decline in June. Across the EU, producer prices rose by 1.4% in July, while the euro area recorded a 1.6% increase.

Eurostat's data show that energy prices were the main driver of annual producer price growth in the EU, rising by 12.5% in July. Prices of intermediate goods increased by 6.0%, while capital goods rose by 2.4%.

Consumer goods also recorded changes, with prices of durable consumer goods increasing by 2.8%. Prices of non-durable consumer goods, however, fell by 0.9%.

The figures underline Bulgaria's position among the EU countries with the sharpest increases in industrial producer prices, despite the slowdown in annual growth from the spring highs. The July figures are Eurostat's first estimates and may be revised subsequently.
